The Torments Sufferered by Caseworkers
Cover of this week’s Westword about child protective caseworkers who suffer PTSD and other torments. One woman in particular sits awake at night, haunted by children who have died because protective resources are stretched too thin.
I want to dedicate this one to my father, Joseph Stauffer, who after retiring from the telephone company went back to school and became a caseworker in Montana. It was a gift of service that took a toll for sure.
